About Leslie Cedar

I am a Psychotherapist and Licensed Clinical Social Worker dedicated to helping people and watching them grow for over 30 years. It has been an honor and privilege to work with men and women of all ages and backgrounds,  and I continue to feel just as excited and engaged in my work today as ever!

My practice began in New York City where I received my M.S.W., my Master of Science degree from the Columbia University School of Social Work in 1977.  I have had extensive post-graduate training, with years of study at the new york analytic institutes, including attendance at the Psychoanalytic Institute for Clinical Social Work.

I have had a very productive career helping people both in the public and private sectors.  Early on I was a therapist at the V.A.Outpatient Clinic in Brooklyn, working with Vietnam veterans and establishing their first therapy program for women veterans. Among the consulting positions I later had, I was a New York City clinical consultant for disadvantaged youth.Throughout my years in New York, I always maintained a private psychotherapy practice working with adolescents and adults in couples and individual counseling.

I continued my clinical work here in Florida in 1991 as a Clinical Supervisor for the Jewish Family Services of Greater Miami.  For 6 years I supervised the clinical staff and student therapists.  Here, too, while employed,  I maintained a private psychotherapy practice,  working with individuals and couples but deepening my area of interest in individual treatment with adults.  For many years now I have worked solely in private practice with people coming from all areas of P
alm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade.

My professional affiliations:

Diplomate, American Psychotherapy Association
Southeast Florida Association for Psychoanalytic Psychology
American Association for Psychoanalysis in Clinical Social Work

Licensure:
